Terrance got me some fish for my last birthday we got 10 and now 7 months later I have been able to keep 3 of them alive. They have been doing very well, and have gotten very large. So a couple of weeks ago I got 4 more fish to add to the tank. As I added these tiny fish into the tank with my big fish I thought to my self "I hope that the big fish don't eat these little ones."
During the first week I notice that one of the little fish is kind of picking on my biggest fish nipping at him but I decide maybe it is its way of playing. So they do great for about a week until I go out of town for the weekend. When I get home I just kinda throw some food in their tank and go to sleep, but the next day while feeding them I turn on the light to look at them like I normally do and I could not believe what I saw, ALL of my BIG fishes back tails had been eaten off !!!
The biggest fish had the bottom part of his tail eaten (2 spot or ADD fish as my mom called him), the second biggest had the top half of his eaten (1 spot) and the third fish (whitey) had hers all the way gone with a little stub at the end!!! ( I know, my fish names are very original.)
I was mortified, my other fish in 7 months had never eaten each other and now these little guppies go in there like children of the corn and tear their fins to shreds! So since I felt so bad for the torture that my fish had gone through I knew that I had to do something. I decided to take the fish that I noticed nipping at my big fish in the first place out and put it into a tank of its own. Luckily I had a spare tank in our apartment, if I hadn't he would have ended up in a cup. After taking this fish out I though that that would fix the problem.
But of course not the bad little fish had to teach all of his other little fishy friends bad habits, or that is what I thought when I went back to the tank later that day and found that my big fish were missing more of their tails! So I knew that I had to take the rest of the little fish out and put them with their very lonely looking friend in the other tank. So finally problem solved right?
No way not yet, apparently the little fish had not taught his other little friends to be naughty too it had taught 2 spot my biggest fish be. Within a couple of days without the little fish there. Whitey had about half a sub for a tail left and 1 spot had the bottom part of his tail completely gone left to a stub like whiteys.
I knew 2 spot was the culprit for 2 reasons 1. none of his fins are missing (biggest hint) and 2. he is strutting around the tank with all his fins fanned out while the other two fish keep theirs closed and as close to their bodies as they can. They look like little logs trying to swim around in the water. Now I don't know what to do with the big bad fish 2 spot because I am afraid if I put him with the little fish again then he will get all eaten up again. (Even though a little thought in the back of my mind is saying it would serve him right if he did...)
By the way all the little fish are in perfect health with none of their fins missing.

Bear Lake
Saturday and Sunday I went to Bear Lake for the first time with Terrance and my parents it was there first time too. It was a really pretty area and bear lake was a lot bigger then I thought that it was. We found it amusing how the part of bear lake that was in Idaho had a few houses every couple of acres near the Lake (but above the marshy area) and then when we crossed over to Utah there were a ton of houses by the lake just one after another on both sides of the road form small cabins to very large homes, even ones that looked like light houses. I saw immediately why people go all the way to the Utah side of bear lake where it is nice and developed and welcoming to visitors. As apposed to the farming land side of Idaho.
We stayed in a condo that my hubbys Grandparents let us use that was right by the beach of the lake. We walked by the beach, collected some sea shells, went swimming in the hot tub because it was definitely a bit chilly for the pool or the lake, and played games with my parents.
On the way to Bear Lake we stopped by Hopper Springs. This is a natural spring that bubbles up carbonated water like pop is except with out the yummy sugary taste of pop. That was fun to try some natural soda water, but it wasn't all that good. but we got a couple milk jugs full of it and added some cool aid to it which did make it quite a bit better. we only drank one jug of it at Bear lake and brought the other home. By the next day the jug of water was turning green so we decided to dump it out instead of drinking the natural soda pop. but it was definitely worth the experience of it.
